Why You Shouldn’t Skip Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning might not be at the top of your priority list, but consider that its benefits go well beyond a clean house. Take a look at some of the biggest reasons why you should give your home a deep cleaning when the weather warms: Better Breathing Today’s homes are sealed and insulated better than ever, and while that’s good news for your winter heating bill, it can wreak havoc on your lungs. Indoor air (and its contaminants) have nowhere to go, which could increase allergy symptoms. Spring is the perfect opportunity to air out your house to help you breathe better. And as you clean, you’ll be getting rid of dust and debris that could be putting a damper on your respiratory health. Less Clutter Clutter creates chaos and can make you feel stressed or anxious. Spring cleaning is the perfect time to purge all the unwanted items that have been building up in your home. Give them away to charity or hold a yard sale to make some money! Physical Activity If you’re doing your own spring cleaning, consider it your exercise for the day. From sweeping to dusting to mopping, any type of continuous movement can burn calories, exercise your muscles, and do your body a favor. Peace of Mind There’s no telling what you’ll find when you start deep cleaning your home, and sometimes, that’s a good thing! Spring cleaning is an excellent way to locate items you thought you lost. And if you clean long enough, you may even enjoy a better night’s sleep after a day’s worth of hard (and rewarding) work. Cleaning has also been shown to boost endorphins and increase feelings of well-being. A clean home is a happy home, after all. A Cleaner Home (Obviously!) If your home is starting to show its age, there’s nothing like a spring cleaning session to rejuvenate it. When we see our homes every day, we tend to overlook problem areas that other people would spot right away. As you start cleaning, you may find opportunities to improve your home or repairs that need to be made to keep your home looking and functioning like new. Spring cleaning comes once a year, but when done right, you can enjoy the benefits all year long!
